The Cabinet!

So being the total nerds that we are, here are the before and after photos of the cabinet that we bought.

As you can tell, lemon is just a stylish colour.

This is what it looks like afterwards - I like it! Plus we're going to buy some sheep and cow handles for the drawers (although I'd love to find some frogs but I can't find them to buy anywhere).

In other news, last week James' parents came over to our place for dinner. It was lovely, we all had a nice time...except for the fact that I am a BIG STUPID IDIOT HEAD and let it slip to James' dad what the gender of the baby is! I mean, for god's sake, he'd only been in the house for a grand total of half an hour. And I'd been practising all day with not using gendered pronouns for the baby or anything. What a loser! I felt sick as soon as it slipped out and then proceeded to have nightmares about it all night. Oh well, at least we don't have to try now, I can just be a moron for longer.

And just to show that I am still madly in love with my beautiful baby kittens, here is a photo of me getting the love.

Oh and plus I went to pregnancy yoga today for the first time. There were two girls in front of me who were getting booked in and they were both due the same week as me...and they had big baby bellies. When I went up to book in the teacher said "So when are you due....October?".

Sorry about the delay in posting, but there have been a few problems. Not least of these was the fact that I wrote a HUGE long post, took me about an hour, all about our Easter holiday and what we did, where we went, etc. Then when I went to post it - *poof*. Nothing. The damn computer crashed, I was MIGHTY pissed off and consequently decided to hold off posting anything else that day because I was so freaking angry. Then the next day I went to post - and the site was down!

So today I finally get to post, but (un)fortunately (depending on how you read it), I can't be bothered trying to recreate my previous mammoth post. Instead, just a few updates on us and the spawn.

Well we found out the gender! Yay!! There is no choice if you don't want to know, because here it is...Monkeyspawn is a chickybabe! In just as exciting news, the anatomy scan revealed that everything looks normal and is just the right size. Apparently that is it for ultrasounds too, we don't get any more unless there's a problem. The obs has a little u/s machine but that's more just to keep us there for longer than about 5mins and give justification to the $60 charge for a (literally) 5minute consultation.

The other day I took my grandma over to my dad and (his wife) Lee's place so that they could see the u/s video. I pointed out all the bits and showed them which parts were face and which bits were butt. My dad was surprisingly excited and interested in the video. Weird. And Lee said that she'd arrange for us to go on a shopping trip so that they can buy us something 'big' in their words. That's pretty cool! They also had a cute little Tigger toy thing as a little present for us which was very cute.

I am also officially 'out there'. I have grown out of the shorts I'm wearing in that stroller photo. I can wear my work pants and one skirt at the moment. Today we went into the city to buy a couple of shirts - everything is from the winter catalogue at the moment, which is ridiculous since it's 30 degrees outside today. I bought a shirt-shirt (you know, with a collar and all), a stretchy long sleeved plain top and this cute little woollen vesty thing. None of it particularly earth-shattering or attractive, but buying basics is difficult when you don't like black and you don't want to wear a boob tube as a skirt - I don't wear them normally, let alone when I'm pregnant!

We have also bought a cute cupboard/drawer thingy for Spawn. It was bloody ugly when we started, painted a lovely pale yellow (blergh). We sanded it back and painted the cabinet white and the drawer fronts are each a different bright colour - lime green, bright pink and bright blue. Will post photos. We have to make everything gender neutral since Mike, James' dad, *really* doesn't want to know the gender. I don't think it will last until the birth since we're always talking about "her" now, but we'll try for his sake.

Anyway, that's it for now. Sorry about the hiatus but stupid technology sucks.
