First OB Appt
Today we went to my first obstetrician's appointment. What made this more interesting than it otherwise should be is that we decided from the moment that the appointment was over, we would start telling people. Call me superstitious, but no need to start going on about it before you are really sure.
Nothing much really happened actually. He did an ultrasound and we both saw the little thing going psycho in there - Adam (the ob) said "There it is, it's pretty active...[pause]...gee, it's really active in there". The little parasite was punching the air with two hands aflailing; James smiled indulgently while all I could think of is how many sleepless nights that means in the future.
He took down all the details that I'd already sent him on another form (maybe in case I cheated and just copied the answers down from someone else?) and that was about it. We do the test to find out about Downs (and other chromosomal abnormalities) in a couple of weeks, so we'll keep you all updated with that one. There's no question anyway, if it's a high risk then that thing's outta there.
Then we went out to buy some little presents to make telling the families on the weekend a little easier. We bought two sets of 'Grandpa' and 'Grandma' keyrings, two little crappy rose things just because they were the only things we could find that specifically said 'Aunt' and a card that was to a great-grandmother for my grandma. Hopefully this leaves little room for confusion - when they open these they'll know what's going on. I know it may seem a little weird but I am just really embarassed and freaked out about saying the words "I'm pregnant" out loud.
Who knows now (in order) - Lisa Wardle, Greta, MVCers (people at Cass' work), Alison X, Colette K
Who will know by the next 48hrs - everyone ever in contact with us.....*sigh*

I think Monkeyspawn was shaking his/her yet to be formed rump in anticipation of The Beastie Boys at the BDO.
I will always tell this poor child that the Big Day Out 2005 was its first gig.

Well done team.
I like the tacky gifts, a nice idea, but the personalised font so you know who's posting - classy.

Congratulations guys! Wow, big news - it's certainly an exciting and scary time. Baby ZedP will be 1 years old on Feb 10, time really does fly - it seems we've known him longer though because we saw his scan when he was 5 weeks old. We loved the scans, they were always the best part (and scary until you see the heartbeat and then you can relax). I hope it all goes brilliantly for you.
Cheers,
ZedP
